Online Learning---it really works!

Over the summer, Jonah has been actively engaged in working through the Time4Learning.com website. This site teaches children in an active, engaged style in five areas: Language Arts, LA Extensions, Math, Science and Social Studies. You're able to test your child's knowledge and have them "placed" into a certain grade. However, you can either lower or increase the grade work in any subject at any time...making it perfect for those kiddos who are trying to catch up to grade level or for those who want to work ahead.

Jonah would actually ask me to get him logged on every day...he enjoyed it that much. More than a few times I caught him laughing out loud at the silly antics or clever word plays that would be displayed throughout the videos. I even found myself watching it with him at times! Although we're going to reserve this site for summer "school," I'd definitely recommend it for any parent out there searching for a solution to help their child increase their know-how in a particular subject or general, grade-based knowledge. Check it out...you won't be disappointed!

As a member of Time4Learning, I have been given the opportunity to review their program and share my experiences. While I was compensated, this review was not written or edited by Time4Learning and my opinion is entirely my own. The Close of Summer

The boys loved living in Draper at Liberty Hills. We lived at the bottom of a huge hill that was perfect for running scooters up and down! But all good things must come to an end. The boys started school the end of August at Odyssey Charter in American Fork off 500 East. Jonah is in 4th grade in Mrs. Baginska's class and Ashy is in 1st grade with Mrs. Rosas and Mrs. Passi (aide). We commuted for about a month before deciding to move to American Fork permanently.

I found a small basement apartment that is only minutes away from their school with Scott and Amy Wright. It is 2 bedrooms with 1 bath, but about the same square footage as our 3 bedroom in Draper. So, although we miss the safe neighborhood with lots of room for scootering, it's nice to be close to their school.

We also had another phone conference with Dr. Cindy Schneider (the autim doctor in Arizona). She ended up changing and adding to Asher's supplement program, so the extra money we're saving in housing will allow us to get Asher the help that he needs....but we still miss you Draper!

Busy Teaching

We've been getting regular emails from Elder and Sister Gardner about every week. They seem happy and healthy and excited about teaching the Hmong people. We've missed our monthly FHEs with them, but know they are in the right place and doing what the Lord wants. We're so happy for them both and look forward to seeing them again next year!

Paragliding

On August 1st Jase finally got the call to experience his paragliding run...his late birthday gift from me :*) We were all super-excited and drove to the mountain right behind our Liberty Hill apartment. Although it wasn't very windy at all (and the wind was south-blowing) we trusted that the guy knew what he was doing. Well....turns out he didn't. After several attempts, they finally got into the air and promptly glided to the right, then left and landed at the bottom of the mountain :*(

Jase said it was very gentle and relaxing...sort of like floating. Well, the kiddos had a good time observing all the beautiful shoots and running around so I guess it wasn't all bad! Jase ended up just walking back to our place and we met him at home. A little disappointed, but at least he wasn't afraid to try something new. Way to go honey!!
