Sushi Anyone?

So I had the wild idea to get together with my sisters and have a "sushi lunch." So, we met at Renee's with all the preparations and got started. Despite generally stuffing them with too much stuff and having a great time trying to cut with a dull knife, it all went without a hitch! The girls liked them a lot and the boys enjoying stuffing their faces with Ramen :*)

Lunch Date

As for me and Ash, we stuck to green smoothies while sharing with Baby Vera (she adores them!). Thanks Sisters for an amazing time!

My Idol

On April 27th I invited Renee and Meg to go with me to a meet-and-greet with Carol Tuttle in her Center for Living Your Truth in Draper, UT. Unfortunately they weren't able to go, so I braved it alone :*) I've always looked up to Carol for her energy wisdom and desire to help women with her straight-forward nature.

I had a really great time and was able to meet and talk with Carol before the event started. Although I believed that I was a Type 2, she thought instantly that I was a Type 4/Secondary 1. Woh! I was blown away, never having considered myself the perfect, model-like type 4 type ;*) But once she said that I could instantly see her point. Thereafter I bought some Type 4 clothes and felt more at home in them. I still don't have a perfect wardrobe yet, but maybe soon!

Short-Lived

I guess it was a little TOO windy, because almost as soon as we got the kite into the air....it came crashing down with a thud. Into the weeds. Weeds and kites don't mix by the way. Jonah was sad.

Using Meg's Gift

My sister, Megan, had given Asher a cute sun kite for his 6th birthday. We finally had a windy day where we could try it out! The activity started off promising and, in a nearby field behind our townhome, we achieved flight!

Asher's Debut

Ashy got to spend Easter Sunday giving his first prayer in Primary. He sat up there so reverently...that is until it was his turn to say the opening prayer. It was at that point that he decided that everything was hilarious and that he should laugh all the way through his words :*) Although Daddy was up there with him and Mom was watching from the chairs, he couldn't contain his giggles. It was really very cute and a fitting debut for our happy little boy.

More Easter Goodness

I had to catch this quick snapshot of my two sweet boys doing what they do best...lounging around and reading together!

EASTER!

It was definitely Spring this year with many, many wet days and rains galore! The boys enjoyed first finding their baskets (thanks Harmons!) and then devouring the chocolate and candies therein while Jase read from the scriptures. Asher really got into it this year. 2011 was a year of awakening for him regarding traditions...first birthdays and then holidays. He's finally getting it!

Where are all the eggs?

Ok, so I was a little gun-ho being in a new city for Easter and wanted to give the boys a new experience. Jase wasn't feeling well on April 23rd so I ventured out alone to find the park with the Draper City Easter egg hunt. Well, they changed it at the last minute and, although we found it (finally!) we had to park in the middle of nowhere, walk a mile, and by the time we got there (10 minutes late)...it was over. Seriously?! Yeah, we were hunting for candy scraps, got a few pity pieces from some workers, took a picture with Spongebob and left. All in about 5 minutes. Even the special needs egg hunt was done and gone! Moral of the story, in Utah you gotta camp out!

Monkey'n Around

Monkey Island Fun Center in Lehi, UT was our next destination and--boy--it really was fun! Meg, Zeb, Vera, Renee and her boys all showed up to play for a while before we headed back to our place in Draper for cake and ice-cream. It was so fun to be reunited with my family again and be able to share Ashy's 6th birthday with all of them. Everyone was surprised at how yummy and moist the chocolate cake was...including me! The Papa Murphy's pizza was also delicious. But the most important part was that it all served to create a very happy birthday boy!

It's the 21st!!!!

April 21st, 2011 finally arrived and Jase and I, once again, stayed up late the night before in full decoration mode! Despite the cloudy weather, Ashy was super surprised when he woke up that morning and enjoyed a pumpkin pie smoothie for breakfast. The first order of the day was to open his HUGE gift, which turned out to be a roller coaster set. Jonah, being the amazing big brother that he is, promptly went to work setting it up for Ashy to play with. Boy! Ashy LOVED it! His favorite thing right now is marbles too. And once again we enjoyed yummy, gluten-free chocolate cake that evening.

I took the boys to the Draper Library later that afternoon and then we ate a quick lunch at McDonalds. Unfortunately there wasn't a playground there (there aren't ANY Micky Dee's in Draper with playgrounds!), but he still enjoyed it. Later, around 4pm, we picked up Jase and headed to the party.

The Day Before

Ashy latest obsession has been calendars!! He loves knowing what's happening and when. Once he had experienced Jonah's 10th birthday in March he was very excited for his own. So, we had him mark off the days until the 21st (which he greatly enjoyed!). It worked like a charm and prevented us from having to answer the "When's Asher 6 cake?" question every day for a month!

Ash is also enjoying working through his homeschool Kindergarten workbook. He calls it his workbook and runs to grab it every night before dinner so he can "review" the work he's done. He especially loves the numerous stickers in the back of the book. We get to stick one to each page he finishes. So fun!

I Can't Believe It!

Ash is turning 6. It's really happening. Stay tuned for all the exciting party pictures!
