The 4th of July
By the time the actual 4th of July rolled around, we were all pretty spent from our long, 4-day weekend with Jase. But we managed to make it special anyway :*) So, after lolly-gagging around the whole morning, sleeping-in, and watching movies we got to work bbqing hamburgers for lunch and pulling off a new tradition.
Dennis Prager (a radio talk-show host we love!) was our inspiration. He had put together a whole script on his website that helps take you through a quick, meaningful ritual similar to how the Jews celebrate the Passover. This ritual serves the purpose of reminding families why we celebrate this important holiday and linking meaning to everyday items, like our coin, colors, food, etc. So we ate salty chips, lit a candle, examined a few quarters, enjoyed red and blue berries with whipped cream, and finally signed an unsigned copy of the Declaration of Independence.
Although Mom was nice enough to invite us to a bbq at her place, we opted instead to stay home and watch one of our favorite movies("National Treasure") together. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.
